Grim Ratte Super-Heavy Tank and Tank Destroyer

When built, this vehicle is huge. At 9 3/4" long, 4" high and 5 3/4" wide (250mm long, 105mm and 146mm wide) without sponsons, it is perfectly suited for representing the largest tanks and tank destroyers in a 28mm heroic scale.

In most cases the top-front and top-rear sections of this kit can be swapped if you wish allowing you to mount the turret or casemate behind the engine, or crew compartment etc.

As for the upper rear of the vehicle, there are presently 4 options included. Closed Passenger Compartment, Open Passenger Compartment, Exposed Engine, and AA platform.

Side sponsons can be mounted as pairs in one of three locations on the side. Towards front, mid, or rear.....or any combination you desire including all three for a total of 6 sponsons and 12 sponson weapons!

You can either glue weapons and sponsons in place permanently OR utilize the pre-made holes for magnets. All slots for this kit use the larger of the two standard sizes with the exception of the rear pintle weapons which use the smaller size.(pintle weapons not shown in final photos but are present in the demonstration video)

The kit allows you to build it either as a tank or tank destroyer and you can easily switch between them. Each of these options has a number of main weapon options to choose from. The bow of the vehicle can feature a siege cannon or spare track link protection. When it comes to secondary weapons, my existing selection of weapons from the Grim Weapon kit are at your disposal. Like nearly every previous vehicle by Grim Prints, this kit features a storage bay inside the completed kit allowing you to put weapons that are not in use right inside the vehicle! The only difference? This hold is MASSIVE! While its recommended that you access parts from the top by removing the turret and crew compartment, you are free to glue them down and use the hatch on the bottom of the vehicle if you wish. A length of brass rod or 1.75mm filament is the ideal material to function as a hinge if you wish to use the hatch.

Every piece of this kit is printable on both resin and FDM printers. In the case of resin, everything has been pre-supported and successfully tested on both a Saturn 8K and Prusa MK4. Naturally, you will receive the unsupported files as well as the Lychee files. Hollowing and drainage is already done for Lychee users. Chitubox users can hollow the pre-supported files to their own satisfaction.

While resin is often praised for its detail and finish, this kit also shines on a good FDM printer. Nearly every piece of this kit is either support free OR requires very little supports. Not only does this reduce cleanup but also time and PLA waste...a common theme from Grim Prints.
